Effie the FAQ Giraffe

FAQs

Q. How much does a Beast cost?

$40 for a standard size (includes shipping and handling).

Q. How long will it take for me to receive my order?

Generally 2 -4 weeks.
But let me know if there’s a specific date by which you need it (e.g., for a birthday or baby shower) and I’ll do my best to get it to you by then.

Q. What if I don’t like it or it’s damaged when I receive it?

Beasts are guaranteed. Let me know the problem and I’ll be happy to fix it.

Q. Can I call you?

Sure. (732) 872-9372. Unfortunately, I can’t take credit card orders over the phone. But you can place your order by phone and then mail me a check made out to Susan Vosburgh at: Susan Vosburgh, 10 Second Ave., Atlantic Highlands, NJ 07716.

THE ANIMAL

Q. Can you really make any name into any animal?

Yes.

Q. What about a long name into a short animal?

ANY name into ANY animal!

Q. What about unusual dog breeds?

No problem.

Q. What if I want it to look like my pet?

Either describe your pet in your order or send a photo with your order via email or snail mail to: Susan Vosburgh, 10 Second Ave., Atlantic Highlands, NJ 07716.

Q. Can you make a name into Mickey Mouse or Barney the Dinosaur?

No. I will not use copyrighted characters.
I can make your name into a very cute mouse or purple dinosaur, but not Mickey or Barney.

THE SIZE

Q. What’s the standard size?

8 x 10 inches.

Q. Can you make one larger than 8 x 10?

Yes. I also make an 11 x 14-inch size for $50. (More for multiple names.)
I only recommend the larger size if you want more than one name or if you want to include a lot of details.

THE DETAILS

Q. I don’t know what animal to make it. Can you help?

Sure. Let me know the name and a little bit of information about the person and I’ll come up with the animal.

Q. What kinds of details should I include?

You don’t have to include details, but a detail or two can really help to personalize your beast.

Q. Like what?

Hobbies, sports, location, profession, interests, middle name, etc.
Also, if it’s for a newborn, you might consider including birth date / weight / size.

Q. How many details should I include?

It’s generally better not to include more than 2 or 3 details. Otherwise it can become too busy and cluttered.
If you want to include more details, you should consider a larger size.
And let me know which details you feel are most important so I can use my judgment as to which other details will work on the artwork and which details I’ll leave out.

MISCELLANEOUS

Q. How long does it take you to make a Beast?

About an hour.

Q. Can you frame them?

Sorry, I don’t do framing. But I definitely recommend having them framed.
It’s a nice touch. And you’ll find that 8 x 10 and 11 x 14 are standard sizes for pre-made frames.

Q. What kind of markers do you use?

I mostly use heavy, broad-tipped art markers made by Design (although I’ve heard that they’re going out of business) and Chartpak. For the black lines I use Sharpies.

Q. Do you make personal appearances?

Yes. 2 or 3 times a year I make Beasts in person at a gift store called Cliffhangers in Bronxville, NY. I also occasionally do children’s parties and art fairs in the NYC area. But I’d be interested in any suggestions or requests.
